FLOOR PAN AIR DEFLECTORS INSTALLATION

These were made to try to improve the cooling by creating a low pressure area behind them. This draws the warm air down to be replaced by cooler air running under the car. They act as a wing. WE have made an improvement by adding winglets (yes just like in commercial aircrafts) on the edges to increase lift (low pressure), and make them more efficient. Estimates are at about 2-3%, so compared to the OEM part it probably won’t be noticeable, but why not improve it if you are going to make a part?

The good news is that the bodies of the 73 have the holes for these already in the lip of the engine compartment.

The challenge is if you are trying to back date an earlier car. Cary at Mittle motors worked with us in getting this figured out. So, I’m posting up some of his pictures and comments as well as what I could scrape together.

Cary – Here's your starting point. Based on the 3 cars I looked at here at MiddleMotors, the first bolt is 15mm from the jack point plate. But beware ……………. Most cars have seen some sort of rust repairs, so use the 15mm as a starting point. But make sure you can drill the holes and get your 8mm socket or nut driver on the other two 5mm bolts.

Here's the pilots modification to the bottom edge.
