REPLACING THE WINDSHIELD MOLDING
Using the windshield chrome replacement rubber - the rubber provided has a butyl bead that goes around the outside edges of the glass. It only covers about 1/4“ of the edge where the aluminum would cover about 1/2”. This will require the installer to make a neat bead in the windshield opening, as the bead is seen. It also must be centered and taped in place for about 3 hrs to set completely. No aluminum or anything other that urethane is required.
The urethane goes in the windshield opening (metal frame). The windshield with the rubber on it goes in the hole. I used some painters tape to help hold the rubber in place on the glass. You really need two people and a set of glass cups to make the install easy. This is how most windshields are installed on modern cars.
